
Marc Angel
Marc Angel is a Luxembourg politician and lawyer, born in 1954 in the town of Esch-sur-Alzette. Since 2019, he serves as Vice-President of the European Parliament from the beginning of 2023.
Angel studied law at the University of Strasbourg in France and began his professional career as a lawyer in his native country. In 1984, he joined the Luxembourg Socialist Party and began his political career as a member of the municipal council of the city of Esch-sur-Alzette.
In 1989, he was elected to the Luxembourg Parliament and has since held several important positions in the government and in the Socialist Party. He was Minister of Labor and Employment between 2004 and 2009, and also served as a member of the board of directors of the European Investment Bank.
In 2019, he was elected as a Member of the European Parliament for the Luxembourg Socialist Party and was subsequently appointed Vice-President of the European Parliament. In his role as Vice-President, Angel is responsible for chairing the Parliament’s sessions and representing the institution at various international meetings and events.
In addition to his political career, Marc Angel is a human rights advocate and has been active in campaigns in defense of the rights of migrants and LGBTIQ+ people. He has also been recognized for his work in the fight against poverty and social exclusion.
